# Black Limestone Bullnose Steps 900x400x40 From £36.20 [Black Limestone](/collections/black-limestone-paving "Black Limestone Paving") Bullnose Steps 900 x 400 x 40 mm are made from solid natural limestone and provide a substantial dark-stone solution for garden steps, raised patios, entrances, thresholds and landscaped level changes. Black Limestone is known for its deep charcoal, black-grey and dark graphite tones, creating a strong architectural contrast against pale render, brickwork, gravel, planting and contemporary garden materials. Each step features a full bullnose along one long edge, forming a smooth rounded front profile for visible step faces and level transitions. The 900 x 400 x 40 mm format provides a generous tread area and a substantial 40 mm solid stone edge, giving the finished step greater visual depth and permanence than using a standard paving slab as a tread. The natural limestone surface provides a relatively fine and controlled appearance compared with heavily riven sandstone. This makes Black Limestone particularly suitable for contemporary patios, formal entrances, dark garden schemes and outdoor spaces where a stronger contrast is required. ## Black Limestone Bullnose Steps - Solid 40 mm Natural Stone with a Dark Rounded Edge Black Limestone Bullnose Steps are well suited to modern and traditional outdoor projects where a dark natural stone step is required. Their charcoal-to-black appearance works especially well with white or cream render, red brick, buff brick, dark aluminium frames, timber fencing, green planting and light gravel. [Black Limestone paving](/collections/black-limestone-paving "Black Limestone Paving") is valued for its strong colour and clean natural-stone character. Freshly supplied stone may appear deep black or charcoal, while outdoor exposure can gradually soften the appearance towards graphite or steel-grey tones. This weathering is a normal characteristic of Black Limestone rather than a structural defect. Because the colour is part of the natural stone itself, individual steps may show subtle variation, mineral lines, small surface markings and tonal differences. Wet conditions can also temporarily deepen the colour, making the stone appear darker and richer. ## Black Limestone Steps for Patios, Entrances and Garden Level Changes The 40 mm thickness gives these steps a strong exposed front profile and provides enough depth for the bullnose edge to look balanced and substantial. This is particularly effective around raised patios, garden steps, house entrances, pathways and other areas where the front edge remains clearly visible. The rounded bullnose profile softens the appearance of the step and creates a more finished architectural detail than a plain square edge. It also helps the tread coordinate more naturally with surrounding paving and landscaping. Black Limestone is particularly effective in gardens where strong contrast is part of the design. Against green planting, pale walls and lighter gravel, the dark stone can create a defined edge and visually anchor different levels within the landscape. These bullnose steps can be paired with matching [Black Limestone Paving](/collections/black-limestone-paving "Black Limestone Paving") for a coordinated patio or entrance design. They can also be used alongside [Limestone Paving](/collections/limestone-paving "Limestone Paving Slabs"), granite setts, light gravel, red brickwork, rendered walls and contemporary garden planting. ### Specifications VARIETIES Garden Stone Steps COLOUR Black / Charcoal Grey MATERIAL Natural Limestone FINISHED FACE Natural Finished Limestone Surface SIZE, PACK 900 x 400 x 40 mm, 18 pcs / crate THICKNESS Nominal 40 mm CALIBRATED Yes EDGE Bullnose One Long Edge COLOUR CHARACTER Deep charcoal, black-grey and dark graphite natural variation SURFACE CHARACTER Fine natural limestone texture with subtle mineral variation SUITABLE FOR Garden steps, raised patios, thresholds, entrances and level changes MADE BY Natural Stone Factory ## Details - **Price:** 2.75 GBP - 651.6 GBP - **Vendor:** Paving Slabs UK - **Type:** Limestone Bullnose Steps - **Tags:** 40mm, 900x400, flat bottom, steps ## Variants | Variant | Price | Available | |---------|-------|-----------| | 18 Pieces | Full Crate | 651.60 GBP | In stock | | 14 Pieces | 572.03 GBP | In stock | | 13 Pieces | 540.26 GBP | In stock | | 12 Pieces | 508.39 GBP | In stock | | 11 Pieces | 476.53 GBP | In stock | | 10 Pieces | 444.66 GBP | In stock | | 9 Pieces | 412.78 GBP | In stock | | 8 Pieces | 380.93 GBP | In stock | | 7 Pieces | 349.06 GBP | In stock | | 6 Pieces | 317.20 GBP | In stock | | Sample 100x100x20mm - ONE PER CUSTOMER | 2.75 GBP | In stock | ## Images - black limestone bullnose steps 900 x 400 x 40 - black limestone bullnose steps 900 x 400 x 40 - black limestone bullnose steps 900 x 400 x 40 - black limestone bullnose steps 900 x 400 x 40 --- > Source: [Paving Slabs Direct](https://www.pavingslabsdirect.co.uk/products/black-limestone-bullnose-steps) > Updated: 2026-10-17
